Terms of use. Free software, in plain English.

OpenFullPage is free software, offered to you under the GNU General Public Licence version 3. That licence is the agreement. This page says the same thing in ordinary English, plus the few things the licence does not cover, such as what you point the tool at.

Last updated 13 September 2026 Licence: GPL-3.0-only

The short version

  • It is free, in both senses. You can read the source, change it and pass it on.
  • There is no account, no subscription and nothing to pay, now or later.
  • It runs entirely on your computer. We receive nothing from it and hold nothing for you.
  • Because we receive nothing, we cannot recover anything for you either. Your captures are yours to keep or lose.
  • It is provided as is, with no warranty. If it matters, check the output before you rely on it.
  • What you photograph, and what you do with the picture, is your responsibility and not ours.

The rest of this page is the same points, written so they hold up.

Licence

OpenFullPage is licensed under the GNU General Public Licence, version 3 only. You may use it for any purpose, including commercially, study how it works, change it, and distribute copies, original or changed.

The one substantial condition is copyleft: if you distribute a changed version, you must release your changes under the same licence and make the source available. That choice is deliberate for a product whose entire claim is that you can read it. A fork that removed the guarantees would have to publish the code that removed them.

Parts of the capture logic derive from earlier MIT licensed work, credited in the repository's notice file, and that notice travels with the code.

The name OpenFullPage and the extension's mark are not covered by the code licence. You may fork the software freely; please do not publish your fork under the same name and icon, because a user cannot tell two identically named extensions apart, and the whole point here is that they can check what they are running.

Price, accounts and tiers

There is nothing to buy. There is no free tier, because there is no paid tier for it to be free relative to. There is no account, no sign in, no licence key and no trial period.

Donations, if that option ever appears, buy nothing and create no obligation in either direction. No feature is held back behind one.

What you capture is yours, and your responsibility

Every image the extension produces is made on your computer and saved where you put it. We never receive a copy, so we claim no rights over any of it, and equally we cannot help you recover one you have lost. Refreshing the result tab discards the capture, and the tab warns you before it does.

You are responsible for what you point it at. Photographing a page you are entitled to see is ordinarily fine; what you then do with the picture may not be. Copyright, confidentiality, data protection and the terms of the site you captured all continue to apply to the image exactly as they applied to the page. A screenshot of someone else's personal data is still someone else's personal data.

The redaction tool destroys the pixels underneath rather than covering them, which is a real property of the exported file and is tested. It is still your job to check that you redacted the right thing before you send it.

Acceptable use

The extension is on your machine and we have no way to police how it is used, nor any wish to. This section is about the parts we do run: this website and the support form. Please do not use them to send unlawful, threatening or deliberately abusive content, to attempt to overload the form, or to probe the site for vulnerabilities without telling us first. If you have found a security problem, we would genuinely like to hear about it by email.

No warranty

The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement. This is the standard GPL position and is set out in sections 15 and 16 of the licence.

In practical terms: a capture can fail. A page that never finishes loading, an unusual scrolling container, a page longer than Chrome's canvas limit, or a site that actively resists being measured can each produce an image that is incomplete or scaled down. The extension tries to tell you when that has happened, and the known limitations are written down rather than hidden. Check the image before you rely on it for anything that matters.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maintainers are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of this software, including lost data, lost captures, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Availability and changes

This website, the support form and any store listing may change or stop being available at any time. The software itself does not depend on any of them: it runs offline, and a copy you have installed keeps working whatever happens here.

The project makes one unusual commitment in the other direction, recorded in its governance document: the extension's store listing and publisher account will not be sold or transferred. If it can no longer be maintained it will be unpublished and the repository archived, never handed on. That is a promise about ownership, backed by a dated canary you can check, rather than a promise about uptime.

These terms may be updated. Changes appear in the git history of the site's repository, and the date at the top of this page moves with them. Continuing to use the software after a change means accepting the updated terms; the licence over the code, which is the substantial part, cannot be changed retroactively for a version you already have.

Third parties

The Upload button copies your image to the clipboard and opens an image host of your choosing in a new tab. Those hosts are not ours, we have no arrangement with any of them, and what you paste there is governed by their terms and their privacy policy rather than ours. The extension itself uploads nothing and cannot.

Chrome, the Chrome Web Store and the browser's own permission prompts are Google's, and installing from the store is a transaction between you and them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu have non exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the place where you live.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
